ethernet port problems

my computer wont recognize my ethernet port, i tried to add hardware but it seems like it cant even tell that its their, i installed all the drives from the cd that came with my motherboard on my comp and still nothing, i even installed a fresh copy of windows again and still nothing, how come my computer thinks that the ethernet port isnt their and are their anyways to fix it?ethernet port problems

yea if youve installed the drivers and windows doesnt see it there problems. when you plug in a cable do the lights on the port come on at all?

ok open up the command prompt and type in ''ipconfig''. if you get an ip address and see your default gateway then you have some connectivity. can you connect to the internet.

You can get at last resort, a pci card for ethernet...
