Yes you have to disable it in the BIOS,i think you can find it under advanced/device configuration or something like that,and yes its safe unless you go around changing things randomly.on-board sound question [56k]
inside my computer it has a connector that goes onto the onboard sound components, i had 2 unplug that and then plug it into my soundcard for my soundcard to work

Those are part of the Creative drivers to ensure compatibility with older games (DOS and Win95).
