hiI%26#39;m thinking of buying a new video card for my PC and i found one that looks good :PNY Geforce 8800gts 640MB graphic card. well since i dont know much about such things i was wondering if anyone who owns such card could tell me if it can be a good buy or if there are problems with it or just and helpful information. one more thing, im not sure if my pc system is high enough so if somone knows please tell me if i can use this card on my system:CPU pentium4 3.0 GHz intelRAM 1023.5 windows XPi dont have a water cooling system if it has anything to do with ithttp://www.amazon.com/PNY-GeForce-8800-640MB-Graphics/dp/B000K28GXG/ref=sr_1_5/104-1838795-4840707?ie=UTF8%26s=electronics%26qid=1177332147%26sr=1-5and if i there is somthing else im missingthank you allPNY 8800GTS video card
=O whatever you do, don%26#39;t get that video card for that system, your cpu would bottleneck it. you could probably just stick with a 7600 GT, or 7900 GT. Anything higher than those won%26#39;t even matter because the CPU won%26#39;t be able to keep up. Also, in order to tell if it would work, you%26#39;d need to find out the slots your motherboard has.PNY 8800GTS video card
if you want DX10 hten get a 8600GTS
What card do you have now? It may be worth you just sticking with the one you have or a 7 series card with that CPU.

Great card beats the 7950gt quite well but as ma friend above said, your cpu will stand in its space of operation - simply put, it would slow it down... Get a duo core cpu and you are on a roll with that card...:D
What power supply is running all that, and are you sure you have a PCI-e slot for graphics?
More to the point, I don%26#39;t think you%26#39;ll want to put that card in your system - that video card is probably worth what your entire machine is worth, and your money%26#39;s worth of performance out of that card. People that run the 8800GTS generally have much faster dual-core processors and twice the RAM you do.
oh really? well good thing i posted this before i bought itdo u think that it will be worth buying it if ill get a CPU of 3.20GHz? or its too low for such a card thx for the help
oh really? well good thing i posted this before i bought itdo u think that it will be worth buying it if ill get a CPU of 3.20GHz? or its too low for such a card
That minor clockspeed upgrade isn%26#39;t going to make a difference - the Pentium 4 is just too old and outclassed at this point.
so i dont think im going to make such a big change soon so what do u think would be the best card for my current system? and thank you all for the help
My current 3200+ is way too slow for the 8800GTS. I'm hoping it'll get better with a X2 4200+ :)
And as already mentioned, your cpu will bottleneck the hell outta that card.

I%26#39;m upgrading my system in 4 months cause i have to wait till i move back to the states and get the 1600 dollars from a summer job. you could do with getting 512mb more ram or a gig unless you plan on upgrading within half a year.
