Hy, I%26#39;m planing to buy new LCD monitor and there are some things that I would like to ask you!My computer is -> Gigabyte DS3, c2d E4300, 2Gb Ram and Gigabyte 7900GS... Qustions are:1) What resolution should I look for when buying new monitor? I guess that above 1280x1024 is overkill because of 7900GS graphic card! Am I right?2) I am planing to buy Samsung 206BW (20'') or 226BW (22''), both have native resolution at 1680x1050... If I want to play below that resolution, ie. 1440x900 which is almost indentical as 1280x1024, what will games look like? Will the visual quality be poor and pixelated or will it be nice and smooth? At this moment I have 17'' CRT and when I play games at resolutions below 1024x768, the visual quality is very ugly and poor, is that the same problem with biger screens like 206BW and 226BW? 3) In your opinion, which is better for gaming, WideScreen (16:10) or ''NormalScreen'' (4:3)? Thank you all in advance, and I%26#39;m sorry if my English sucks, I%26#39;m from Croatia! Few question about monitors
1) You must use the Native Resolution for best results2) Visual quality is exelent in LCD monitors even in 800*600 resolution 3) Wide Screen is good for gaming.http://www.nvidia.com/page/technology_extreme_hd_home.html Few question about monitors
i just bought the samsung 226bw 2 days ago and i love it. it is by far the best monitor out, and its only 300 bucks. its amazing. something like this a year ago would have been over 600 dollars, and 3 years ago well ove a thousand dollars. it has the lowest ms with 2ms than anything technology out. has an amazing contrast ratio of 1000:1 scr and 3000:1 dcr, which is better than anything out. 22 inches is great. it spins around 360 degrees. i did a lot of research on monitors and went t oa lot of places and this thing is great. has a 3 year warranty, its customer product of the month at newegg, samsung will deliver you a monitor to replace it before you have to ship yours off, its great man, def the best and nicest thing i ever bought
Thank you all for your reply! I know that 226BW is a Godlike monitor but I%26#39;m scared of it%26#39;s enormous resolutions! I don%26#39;t think I will be able to play Oblivion or some other ''more advanced'' games like Oblivion in it%26#39;s native resolution! Afterall, I have 7900GS which isn%26#39;t that good above 1280x1024 or 1440x900... The 226BW is stil an option but I might reconsider buying 931BF instead! It has native resolution 1280x1024, and it has almost indentical specification as 206BW (which is also great)! I know it%26#39;s not WideScreen, but 19'' LCD doesn%26#39;t have enough vertical space! What is your opinion on 931BF? Thanks in advance!
For a 19 inches LCD I would recommend the LG 1953T 5ms. I have the 1952T 8 ms, not as good as the 1953T but I still love it. Text is very sharp, high contrast ratio and high viewing angle. If you plan on upgrading your video card then I suggest you get the Samsung 226BW.
You CAN run resolutions lower than the native res. Nvidia has scaling options in the driver though you have to find it. You can run lower resolutions either stretched to fit the screen, mapped 1:1 and centered with black borders all around, or scaled with aspect maintained and two black bars. Also, 20'' and 22'' have the same resolution so while the 22'' will be bigger, the 20'' will look sharper.
Thanks again for your help! You have helped me more than you know! At first I was afraid, I was petrified ...:)... of lower resolutions on big screens but now I know better than that! Thank you all so much, and sorry once again if you had trouble reading my posts...
