Im trying to overclock my agp 7600 gt, useing the godly simplicity of coolbits, Even when i overclock using the automaticly determined clockspeeds i get freezing in oblivion after five or ten minutes.Im wondering if overheating is the problem, it would be the most common problem and would be consistant with the game running for a time and heating up the hardware, before passing its safe limit thermostat and shutting down.lowering the clockspeeds solvs the problem but i want to squeeze everything out of it i can.are their any other causes i should look for, and what is the best option for extra cooling??? First time overclocker...
First is if your video card is old, it might be gathering dust, actually before that what is your actual load temperature. If it is temp, you should get some compressed air and blow the card to hell. once you do that try to do some cable management, to organize your airflow. Also, you can replace the thermal compound on your video card, and lower it by a great deal of temp, I would reccomend zm-stg1 (better than ac5) and easier to applyFirst time overclocker...
You could also get a third-party video cooler. That would increase the overclocking potential.
Make sure you%26#39;ve got good case cooling as well, that makes an enormous amount of difference as I found out. If the air is being blown around inside the case, its not cooling anything off.
