please help with spyware

i dont exactly know what it is but i have been searching on the Internet and all signs points to spyware. i was using IE7 when i got it. i keep doing a scan and every time i pick up something call moling in the registry. i cant delete it though, how do you suppose to delete it? and what is the best spy-ware/virus program to use?please help with spyware

find the name of the program and go into your program files and delete the file from there
Try Ad-aware SE Personal from Lavasoft.Its very helpful and easy to use.  
make sure you scan while in safe-mode
i downloaded Ad-Aware SE, did the scan and deleted the files. i am still getting the alerts in the task bar. every-time i try to close them out, a page comes up trying to sell anti-spyware(spylock and win antivirus).
what anti-spyware is being advertised in the popups?

Using a backup is fine...if you already have the backup file. You can't restore your computer from a backup that you don't have, and you don't want to make a new one while your computer is infested. The reason I asked for the type of popups is because certain viruses make certain popups come up, and if you know what they're advertising you can probably figure out what the virus is.

It is not a solution if you don%26#39;t have a clean backup first. But once you have a clean backup, now, you can really mess up your PC because you can easily recover it. This is truly virus worry free. I don%26#39;t trust anti-virus and anti-spyware software. It is not like they didn%26#39;t do a good job, but they are not God that can magically solve anything. I think anti-virus is best used as trojan detactor since trojan has no symptons.

Agreed, AV software is definitely not perfect. The problem is that even though you may remove the offending viruses or spyware, the effects may still be felt. I have had infections that I successfully removed where I ended up having to reinstall windows anyway because they messed my registry up too much.
